SCARBOROUGH
HAS WAITED
LONG ENOUGH.

Sharmina Nasrin for City Council, Ward 20

I have lived here for nearly a decade. I know the frustration of delayed transit, rising costs, and feeling ignored. I am running for City Council to deliver real results and strong leadership at City Hall. Because Scarborough Matters.

“I know this community. I know how the system works. I am running so Scarborough Southwest gets the attention, service, and respect it deserves. Because Scarborough Matters.

I know the community. I know the system.

I am a mother, a former public servant, and your neighbour here in Ward 20 for nearly a decade. I know the pressure families feel when the rent goes up or the bus does not show. And from my years inside government, I know how decisions get made, where the money goes, and how easily communities like ours get overlooked.

This is home. My family and I have lived, worked, and grown here in Scarborough Southwest for nearly a decade.

Community Builder

I chose this community to build my life and raise my family. I know how to bring people together and find answers that actually work.

Housing · Transit · Opportunity · Community

Protecting Tenants+

Too many of our neighbours are one rent increase away from having to leave. I will stand up for tenants and keep our neighbourhoods affordable, so families, seniors, newcomers and young people can stay.

  • I will fight renovictions and protect tenants from being pushed out
  • I will support affordable and nonprofit housing
  • I will push for real RentSafeTO enforcement in Ward 20
  • I will back development that respects our neighbourhoods
  • I will treat childcare as what it is: an affordability issue
Safer Streets & Better Transit+

We have put up with years of Eglinton Crosstown construction. We deserve buses that show up, roads that are safe, and kids who can walk to school without worry.

  • I will push the TTC for buses that actually come on time
  • I will demand answers and accountability on the Eglinton corridor
  • I will support Vision Zero safety upgrades at our intersections
  • I will work for safer walks to schools and transit stops
  • I will fight for sidewalks and stations that work for seniors and people with disabilities
  • I will push to expand WheelTrans service
Cleaner Neighbourhoods+

When garbage gets dumped in a park, it should not sit there for weeks. I want our streets, parks and public spaces clean and cared for.

  • I will push for bylaw enforcement that actually fixes problems
  • I will fight for regular, reliable maintenance of streets and parks
  • I will demand faster cleanup of illegal dumping, litter and graffiti
  • I will keep our roads, sidewalks and community spaces in good repair
More Opportunities for Families & Youth+

Your postal code should never decide your future. Our families and young people deserve the same chances as anyone downtown.

  • I will bring job fairs and employment services right into the ward
  • I will support youth mentorship, recreation and skills training
  • I will expand access to the skilled trades
  • I will team up with local businesses, nonprofits and grassroots groups
  • I will make our libraries real community hubs
  • I will push for services in the languages we speak, and cultural centres too
  • I will fight to close the service gap between Scarborough and downtown

Community Proof

Listening before leading.

I do not believe you can represent people from behind a desk. I am out in our neighbourhoods every day, knocking on doors, listening to families, and carrying what I hear straight to City Hall.

Family Perspective

A mother who understands everyday pressure.

Housing, transit, childcare, safe streets. For my family these are not talking points, they are daily life. I am raising my kids here, and I will fight to make our ward more affordable and livable for everyone.

Ready to Serve

Professional, calm and prepared.

I have spent my career in public service and policy. I know how City Hall works, where the money goes, and how to get results. I will be ready on day one.
