Scarborough Southwest deserves leadership that understands both the community and the system. Sharmina Nasrin is running to deliver practical progress on housing, transit, opportunity and community services.
Sharmina Nasrin is a Bangladeshi‑Canadian, a mother, a public servant and a Ward 20 resident for nearly a decade. Born in Bangladesh and educated at Dhaka University and York University, she understands the newcomer journey, the pressure working families face and the barriers many residents experience when trying to access housing, jobs, transit and city services. Her career inside the Ontario Ministry of the Solicitor General has given her a deep understanding of how government works — how decisions are made, how budgets move and how communities can be overlooked. She is running to make sure Scarborough Southwest is no longer treated as Toronto’s afterthought.
Experienced in provincial government, she knows how to navigate systems and deliver real results for residents.
As a proud resident and neighbour, Sharmina has lived, worked and raised her family in Scarborough Southwest for nearly a decade.
Driven by her immigrant experience and mother’s perspective, she brings people together around practical solutions.
Housing solutions that protect renters, respect homeowners and make room for working families, seniors, newcomers and young people to stay in Scarborough Southwest.
After years of Eglinton Crosstown disruption, Ward 20 deserves transit accountability, reliable service, stronger bus connections and safer streets.
Opportunity should not depend on your postal code.
Strong communities are built through services, connection, libraries, youth programs, cultural spaces, childcare, crisis support and equal access to city investment.
