About Sharmina

Get to know the woman behind the movement. Sharmina’s journey from Bangladesh to Scarborough Southwest has shaped her dedication to public service and community.

Her Story

Sharmina Nasrin is a Bangladeshi‑Canadian immigrant, mother and community advocate who has called Scarborough Southwest home for nearly a decade. With degrees from Dhaka University and York University and public service experience inside the Ontario Ministry of the Solicitor General, she blends lived community knowledge with insider know‑how to make government work for all of us.

Immigrant & Mother

Sharmina and her family came to Canada seeking opportunity. Now she’s raising her kids in Ward 20, facing the same challenges as many neighbours.

Policy Professional

Her work in the provincial government taught her how budgets move, how policies get made and how to navigate the system to deliver change.

Community Advocate

From housing to transit to youth programming, Sharmina has been on the ground listening and working alongside residents to build a more just city.
